Reception staff is very rude! Unbelievable they act like people are begging them to get paid!
Went on 1/10/2018, and whoever was on the counter on the day rudely refused to understand what I was trying to explain to her and lied about our child as being marked as in the country on the system. I know that she lied because we went to Melton Centrelink afterwards who were very pleasant to deal with and confirmed that our child was still being indicated in their system as out of the country. Your counter staff need more training on customer service.
Disgusting. I am enraged at how difficult the government makes it to claim student allowance through their poor website and lazy staff. To contact them through phone is a procedure that almost made me cry. Call this number to be told to call another number as they are not entitled to that information. That number then tells you to visit the contact us website which guides you back to the first number. It is this difficult yet there are still people who don't have jobs with no intention of getting a job who are using the Centrelink benefits to buy 80 inch televisions and a "sweet sound system" in their commodore. Now I'm going to have to wait in line for half an hour to be told, "all your enquiries can be answered online". No, they can't. Last time I was there on their computers there internet "is just slow today". Slow? It wouldn't load the Centrelink claim page after 20 minutes of waiting. Then it just had a white screen. I had to leave or else I would end up screaming at someone. I hate the system. I am appalled. Now I don't even want to interact with their complaint department as I am worried they will be as difficult.
In my experience, the two best Centrelink in Melbourne are Watergardens & Prahran.Much of the higher than usual service standard is doubtlessly directly related to the behaviour standards of the clients.The absolute worst Centrelink office is SUNSHINE. Ive only ever had good dealings with this Centrelink office. Yeah, the staff dont fall at your feet and shower you with warmth and affection, but its a Centrelink office so you shouldnt expect to be treated like royalty. Put yourself in their shoes for a second; It cant be the most pleasant of jobs. Staff members have to deal with all sorts of people and all sorts of situations. Theyre not exactly getting paid at a rate thats gonna propel them straight to the top of the Forbes rich list. Anyways, its like with most aspects of life: if you wanna be treated with respect, or at the very least civility, then thats how you should treat others.
